Frequently asked questions.
Truvee requires only the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number, and only for US verifications. This is used solely to confirm identity at the time of verification. Truvee does not store these digits or any portion of your SSN.
Yes. After your identity is verified, you'll electronically sign acknowledgment of the sealed proof. You can choose to sign using your verified legal name (auto-generated) or draw your signature with your finger or mouse.
No. Truvee matches a live capture to a government ID for a specific request and records the result. It helps you know who is on the other end, but it does not guarantee a person's honesty or a transaction's outcome, and no verification system catches every forgery. Use Truvee as the front gate of your due diligence, not the only lock on the door. Truvee is not a credit report and is not regulated under the FCRA, so for employment, tenancy, credit, or insurance decisions, pair it with a licensed consumer reporting agency.
A single identity verification you send to someone. They scan their government ID and take a live selfie. You get back a digital Truvee Record with the identity result for that request, plus an optional PDF copy. The record covers identity only.
The sender does. The recipient can verify without an account. They open the private link, verify, and can view their record. They can optionally create an account to keep their verification history.
Timing varies with the recipient's device, ID and connection.
They can retry up to 3 times. If all attempts fail (bad lighting, expired ID), the Truvee is marked failed in your dashboard. We also try to email you, but delivery isn't guaranteed. If a technical failure prevents verification from completing, contact support and we will review case by case.
Your dashboard shows a match indicator: exact match, partial (middle name, nickname), or mismatch. You decide how to handle it.
Truvee retains government-ID copies within the private completed PDF, with recipient consent before signing. The authorized requester and recipient can download and retain the PDF. The identity provider processes live-face verification; selfies and biometric templates are not included in the standard PDF.
A clean email from Truvee leading with your purpose statement, a plain-English consent screen, and a short ID-scan flow. They must opt in before anything is captured.
Yes. With recipient consent before signing, government-ID front and back where applicable are included in the retained private PDF. The authorized requester and recipient can download and retain it. Live selfies are not included in the standard PDF.
Yes. Email privacy@truvee.net or use the self-serve deletion tool in account settings. We respond within 5 business days.
Yes. Truvee uses live face verification, the same kind of verification stack used by major financial institutions. We require recipient consent on every verification and comply with biometric privacy laws.
$6.99 per verification. One price, one product, no subscriptions, no hidden fees.
One verification costs $6.99 USD total. The selected payer pays at checkout before verification begins. If you use an existing credit, one credit is deducted when you create the request, not when the recipient completes it. Recipient-pays requests do not charge the sender. Eligible unused sender-paid requests convert to account credit under our expiration and recall policy.
Once live face verification begins (the recipient opens the camera and starts the scan), the charge is locked in — pass or fail. We pay our verification provider the moment the camera opens, so the fee covers the cost of running the check whether or not the result comes back as a match.
All major cards via Stripe. Apple Pay and Google Pay on mobile. No ACH or wire at launch.
Real refunds are available within 24 hours of purchase if the invite has not yet been sent to the recipient. Otherwise, charges convert to a Truvee credit on your account if the recipient doesn't complete verification within 7 days, good for any future verification (no expiration for 12 months). Once a recipient opens the camera and begins live face verification, the charge is locked in (pass or fail), that covers what we pay our verification provider to run the check.
